Institute Founding Director Leads Workshop at UNODC-South Africa Seminar

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Regional Office for Southern Africa (UNODC-ROSAF) hosted a seminar on the Prosecution of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) cases Oct. 10-13, 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. Institute Founding Director John Richmond led a workshop called “Good practice: Prosecution Strategy in TIP cases” for participants on Oct. 10.

The seminar brought together prosecutors assigned to TIP cases from 13 countries in the Southern African Development Community including Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Through the seminar, UNODC sought to provide substantive support to TIP cases that potentially could be or are currently being prosecuted in the relevant courts in order to increase the chance of successful prosecution.
