In Connecticut, one new criminal human trafficking case was filed in federal courts in 2021. Zero defendants were convicted. 100 percent (1) of new defendants were charged with sex trafficking, and zero percent (0) were charged with forced labor. Since zero criminal human trafficking defendants were convicted in Connecticut federal court in 2021, none were ordered to pay restitution to their victim(s). 2021 is the second consecutive year where federal courts in Connecticut did not convict a human trafficking defendant or order one to pay restitution.
