In Mississippi, one new criminal human trafficking case was filed in federal courts in 2021. Two defendants were convicted. 100 percent (1) of new defendants were charged with sex trafficking, and zero percent (0) were charged with forced labor. Mississippi federal courts ordered zero of two convicted criminal human trafficking defendants to pay restitution to their victim(s) in 2021. Only in 2013 have federal courts ordered a convicted Mississippi human trafficking defendant to pay restitution.
