In New Mexico, zero new criminal human trafficking cases were filed in federal courts in 2021. Three defendants were convicted. 100 percent (19) of active defendants were charged with sex trafficking, and zero percent (0) were charged with forced labor. New Mexico federal court ordered zero out of three convicted criminal human trafficking defendants to pay restitution to their victim(s) in 2021. Federal courts last ordered convicted New Mexico human trafficking defendants to pay restitution in 2019.
